Open isn’t so open anymore « Connectivism →
This is a great internal debate about the ‘openness’ of open education and what that really means. Thanks to Adrienne for sharing this!

Re-Define Learning →
This short blurb gives a cursory overview of some of the advantages of using ebooks and technology in learning. The NYC Tech community has spent the last year building new ways to visualize and manipulate data in a variety of mediums. Do you see where I’m going with this?

Dulin's Books brings Onxy's 6-inch Boox 60... →
Here’s hoping this opens the floodgates for more touch screen ebook devices. The Entourage eDGe is really compelling, but mostly to its specific market (k-12 students). Increasing interaction with digital books is going to go a long way to removing the stigma hanging over their heads.

Education Week: Indiana Slashes $297 Million From... →
The only way I can sum up this article is “Oof.” Part of our mission at one of my startups, resolve4, is to reduce cost and improve efficiency at K-12 schools. What we don’t want is for our market segment to grow due to moves like this!

Kindle DX Education Review – Kindle DX Trials «... →
This is an awesome overview of the collegiate pilot programs testing the Kindle DX as a replacement for paper textbooks. The feedback been extremely revealing; the overall mixed reaction of the Kindle from both students and professors is nothing short of reassuring to the management and advisors at TxtBk. Why? Because we’ve been saying all along that the reason a device like the Kindle...

Kindle Ebooks Outsell Real Books on Christmas →
This is pretty big. At TxtBk we’ve been planning a drastic shift to ebooks for going on two years now, so we’re super excited by this. Now if we can get more info about Amazon’s collegiate Kindle DX trial…

What I do with all my time.
I work a lot. I have a full time job in IT, I go to grad school at night and I’m an active partner in two education-focused technology startups and one retail venture. That’s not to say I’m some sort of stick in the mud. I like Rock Band more than a little bit, I attend parties whenever I’m not at networking events and the most organized part of my apartment is my book...
