Over the past few years, Asus’ design has been pretty hit or miss. This, however, is a gigantic hit. Aside from what it will do, it’s really, really pretty.
Now if we can just get a price for this piece of hardware success.
I posted about the DR-950 from Asus before, but these shots pretty much confirm what I thought originally: this is one good looking ereader unit. now how about some real hands on reviews, Asus?
Hardware giant Asus had been pretty mum on the whole ereader concept until yesterday, when they unveiled two devices that are both pretty interesting. The first, DR-570, has a 6-inch OLED screen to allow for full color reading (pictured above with Elle on the screen).
More interesting to me of course is the DR-950 is the 9-inch black and white reader. It has a 16 shade Sipix screen instead of E-ink, and comes with touch input, text-to-speech and a full featured web browser that can work in landscape or portrait mode. Three pictures of it above. The larger screen should be great for viewing full PDF documents and taking notes with the handwriting input.
